Every year, Nyborg Municipality and East Funen Museums recreate a historical tradition that had otherwise been forgotten for more than 400 years.
On the first weekend of July, the entire town of Nyborg buzzes with life again, just as it did when the king and his men met for the Danehof, the country’s legislative and judicial assembly.
The medieval market in Nyborg has grown considerably in the space of just a few years. It now takes place throughout the historic town centre, between Nyborg Castle and Nyborg church, with the royal fortress the natural focal point, staging the jousting tournament. The area around the castle, the cosy shopping streets and stalls are abuzz with sizzling, delicious-smelling taste sensations and entertainment all weekend for children and adults alike.
